Regarding your concern about file types, our themes supports pdf,doc,docx,png,jpg,gif,zip.
In case your site user need to upload non-supported file type, s/he can compress the file to the zip file & attach as normal.
Otherwise, you can upload the file on cloud hosting & send the link.
