[All] If I have an enginethemes theme installed on my website, I may not be able to sell my business or have it acquired by another company in the future (Copyrights)?

Full Question:

In the terms of service section 7 (Product Ownership), it states: “Customers may not claim intellectual or exclusive ownership to any of our products, modified or unmodified. All products are the property of EngineThemes. They are also not allowed to resell or distribute our products in any form.”

Does this clause only relate to the product before it has been installed and customised, or does it imply that once the theme has been installed on my WordPress host that Enginethemes still may claim ownership of my website?
Furthermore, does this clause mean that if I have an enginethemes theme installed on my website which I operate as a business, that I may not be able to sell my business or have it acquired by another company in the future while still using the theme?

Answer:

Regarding your concern about copyrights, we would like to inform you that:

  • We only claim copyrights for our theme package. You can sell your business (not the theme package or content).
  • Please refer to our Terms of Service for more reference.
